"Supporting the Light"

The Mystery Of Life And Death

Life is all around us, dying on every hand!

Failing, fading, fleeing,

Like the timer's trickling sand.

No thought of the morrow, for the morrow may not come,

Failing, fading, fleeing,

Like the moon before the sun.

Death is all around us, springing into life:

Rising, ripening, reaping,

Like the corn before the knife.

Full of expectation with blossoms big and bright,

Rising, ripening, reaping,

Like the harvest in the light.

Life and Death surround us embracing one and all,

Standing, speaking, sitting,

Like the stigma of The Fall.

Although in life we're dying,

In dying there is life,

Standing, speaking, sitting,

Like the Word's eternal life.
